Simbrix Newsletter – Wednesday 10th Jan 2018 Happy New Year Brixers 2018 is here! Happy New Year to you and your family I hope you had a lovely Christmas and joyfully start to the new year. Its been a cold break – but a great excuse to stay cosy at home with the family and play with your favourite toys and Simbrix. 2017 was a busy year for us. We took the time to update the Simbrix kits to make them even better, moving from the really nice Cotton Bags to the ‘Play Tray Box’. This took a much longer than we…

By | Simbrix News | No Comments

Following our success on Kickstarter, where we raised around 300% of our target, We can finally confirm that our new kits on are the way to us arriving in mid-November. Why update Simbrix? Simbrix has been making new friends around the world since we started selling them in 2016 and received such wonderful feedback, it was easy to feel very proud of our achievements. In 2016 we won the ToyShop award too, so why did we need to make any changes to the kit? In the first few years of Simbrix’s life, we were really looking inward, at the product,…

Simbrix back on Kickstarter

By | Kickstarter | No Comments

Two years after launching our first version of Simbrix to the world through Kickstarter, we have grown up quite a bit since. We also gained a huge amount of insight in what our new friends think about Simbrix and how they use them. We have been making little updates to our kits over the two year, changing inspirations, adding a new kit and finding new people to sell them. Last year I decided it was time to look  at the entire package and decide what was needed take Simbrix to the next level. So my team and I got all…

Simbrix gets interest from Argos and Hobbycraft

By | Press articles | No Comments

As the popularity in Simbrix grows even more retailers are noticing our small pixelated bricks, reading our fab reviews and becoming more interested in the story of Assim the inventor of simbrix. This week Assim was interviewed for the Business expert website www.businessadvice.co.uk.  In the interview Assim talks to Fred Heritage about the journey of Simbrix from watching his children struggle with their Hama beads, to creating over 400 prototypes, a successful Kickstarter campaign, the launch this year and how important Amazon has been in reaching brixers across the globe. After meeting senior buyers from Argos and Hobbycraft, they were…

By | Press articles | No Comments

In the run up to Christmas exposure is everything for a small independent business like ours, so we’re pleased to tell all Brixers that news is spreading fast.  They tell us that ‘The good news for us is that construction toys are becoming more popular than ever with demand doubling recently’ The article in the Daily Express tells our story, from the very beginnings of the concept, the hard work we put into developing just the right brick (we experimented with over 400 protoypes!), to our fabulous Kickstarter campaign and advice and support we’ve had from great people along the…

Meeting the real people behind the blogosphere

How much do we rely upon the reviews, feedback and advice of others when we decide to make a purchase of something we have yet seen, tried or tested ourselves? For me, 90% of the time I am buying any non food or clothing item, I will scour the internet for someones review of the item that is within the target of my Visa card or Paypal account. I’m a fan of Amazon, not for the low prices, or fast delivery option (but that is very handy sometimes) but for the feedback and reviews left for most of the products…

The Award winning Simbrix!

By | Simbrix News | No Comments

We are pleased to announce that Simbrix has just won the Bronze Medal for best puzzle toy in the 2016 Independent ToyShopUk Awards. As you know, we are a tiny team and really started selling Simbrix from February after delivering our Kickstarter rewards in 2015, so to have this vote of support form the Toy Industry is amazing and we are extremely proud of this result! We submitted our Cute Kit with its updated inspiration sheets in its lovely cotton drawstring bag. The Independent Toy Award is unique within the toy industry, as the votes come exclusively from the 900…

Spring Fair: Our Retrospective

By | Events | No Comments

What is the Spring Fair? Held at the NEC in Birmingham, which is like a cross between an exhibition centre and  an airport, the Spring Fair is where all kinds businesses find leads for the coming year. We found everything from greeting cards, movie memorabilia and furniture to Christmas-music-playing automata. We were in Hall 5, which was dedicated to toys, games and gadgets, and where you had to watch out for swooping drones and the occasional businessman test-driving a skateboard. What Happened? For the 6 days of the fair, we had a steady stream of visitors who stopped to take a closer look at…

Simbrix For Brain Health

By | Simbrix News | No Comments

Those of you who have followed our adventure so far will know that Simbrix was invented by a father for his children. His big idea was to give his kids a way to express their creativity without frustration. When Simbrix first came to craft fairs and other events, it proved to be a hit people of all ages.   Why? We believe that the success of Simbrix has something to do with the benefits of focused free play.  Throughout Simbrix’s two-year development, a lot of thought was given to the desired balance between creativity and logic. This balance is reflected in every aspect of the final design, from the interlocking mechanism to the feel…

Kickstarter: Our Retrospective

By | Kickstarter | No Comments

Last week, we successfully funded our craft construction toy on Kickstarter. We raised about 290% of our goal, directly from preorders of Simbrix.  We set a modest goal as we wanted more than anything to get Simbrix into people’s hands and see what they would create with it. During two years of development and looking for ways to get the toy made and distributed, we have learned a lot from mistakes – not just our own but those of other Kickstarter projects too. First Time Around Our first Kickstarter campaign ran April and May 2015, and was managed by a very capable team of young people. However, we went in…
